Simple comparison between Riegl VZ400i and Hovermap ST
This is just a simple visual comparison between the Riegl VZ400i, a high accuracy high density terrestrial laser scanner and the Hovermap ST, a hand-held SLAM scanner. Not the STX model which is much better.
The image above is a Riegl VZ400i scanThis image is taken from the Hovermap ST from the same location.The plant was working at the time of the survey. The Riegl VZ400i was used at ground floor level. There were several levels of mezzanine floors which were vibrating and therefore not suitable for a Terrestrial Laser Scanner on a Tripod. The Hovermap ST was utilised to fill in any shadows and undertake the work on the mezzanine floors.
The Hovermap ST fitted perfectly with e Riegl VZ400i. The last image shows results of both scans combined.
